Hannah Egwuime Azuonye (1928-2010)

With the deepest sorrow, I share this sad news with my friends. My beloved mother, Mrs Hannah Egwuime, Igirigi Ututu, Oso di ama mba, ezinne, passed away on Friday June 11, 2010 in Port Harcourt. She was 82 years old.

Survived by her sons Chukwuma, Ikechukwu, Ndubuisi, Uzoma, Chike, Kodi and I, Nnorom, her youngest kid. Igirigi Ututu was predeceased by my brother Chidi (1963-1982) and my sister Ngozi (1956-2008).

Her daughters-in-law include Chioma, Margaret, Rita, Cecilia, Karin and Thelma. She is also survived by son-in-law Anselm.

She is also survived by her brothers Humphrey and Charles, and sisters-in-law Ethel and Ijeoma.

Igirigi Ututu was also blessed with many grand-children including Ogadimma, Nnamdi (1982-2001), Ijeoma, Chisom, Chinedum, Oluchi, Chinenye, Nkiru, Ifeoma, Uzoma jr, Chukwuka, Chioma, Chukwuemeka, Anulika, Hannah, Maximilian, Arinzechukwu, Nwachiamanda and Grandson-in-law, Innocent. Her step-grandchildren are Francesca, Nathan and Natalie.

Her great-grand children include Ikenna, Tobenna, Muneera, and Amblessed.

My mother was faithful unto the Lord until her last breath and I have no doubt that even today she is with the Almighty as she reviews her life and prepares to receive a new breath of earthly life from her creator. I give thanks to God for her long life.

  1. I did not spend much time with her. But the times I did were so amazing. I remember her teaching Chukwuka how to write. And she was always worried about my friends. Guess what. She was always right about them.

She is smiling right now. She is at peace. Bye grandma - Nkiru Enefa Azuonye
